WebFeb 23, 2024 · DuraCoat is a very good firearm finish,,,assuming you do PROPER PREPARATION. I’ve used it for about a decade and played around with prep. If you don’t take your time and prep, it will peel/chip off. However, if you clean, sandblast, clean again, spray in a clean area,,,it should turn out fine.

Duracoat can be tricky to remove if you ever decide to change the finish on your gun. It can also chip and scratch more easily than Cerakote. Cerakote is a highly durable finish. It is resistant to wear and tear and corrosion, and chemicals.

Were it be I'd either parkerize it first of use some primer. Duracoat is some tough stuff but in the end it is still paint. Thus prep work determines the final product. WebAug 22, 2016 · These guns are a royal PITA to detail strip too so I needed it to blend in some areas like under the grips as I only pulled the takedown lever and locking block when I painted the frame. These guns were parked slides originally for the military finish too. Supposedly the paint is fine for 2-3 weeks after the hardener.

Typically with AH2 I would have to replace the nozzle 5-6 times per can, and experience inconsistent spray patterns. None of this was experienced with the DuraCoat Aerosol.
