Cylinders compression low between 2
WebThis is a Subaru 2.5 liter non-turbo engine that I have recently replaced due to low compression (readings between 95 - 105 in all 4 cylinders). There was no knocking at all (just a random misfire due to combustion issues). I have a video showing the way it worked before taking it out. WebNov 2, 2024 · Healthy engines should have compression over 100 psi per cylinder, with no more than 10 percent variation between the highest and lowest readings. WebNov 25, 2010 · Re: How much varience allowed between cylinders's compression? It's more a relative issue to the given hours on the engine and the loss of compression. IE a 20 year old engine with 5% difference isn't bad, a 10% difference isn't great, but okay and a 15% difference should be examined. WebMost gas engine’s compression should be between 125 and 175 PSI while a diesel will generally fall between 275 and 400 PSI. Remember to write down each of your findings. If one or more cylinders looks to be way off in PSI, you can re-run the test again just to check.
